◦ Mobile app development

An app is a product,
not a project.

Most app briefs arrive as a build with an end date. The ones that work are treated as something that ships, gets used, and keeps changing — because the store rules move, the operating systems move, and the first version is always a hypothesis. We plan for the second year as carefully as the first. iOS and Android, designed, built, submitted and maintained.

◦ What it covers

Service scope

01

App strategy and validation

Working out what the app has to prove, and the smallest version that proves it, before anyone writes code that assumes the answer.

02

UI and UX design

Designed to the conventions of each platform, so it feels native to the person using it rather than like a website in a frame.

03

iOS and Android development

Native where the app needs the device, cross-platform where it does not. We will tell you which one your app is, and why.

04

Testing and quality assurance

Tested across real devices and screen sizes, because the phone your app breaks on is never the one it was built on.

05

App store submission

Listing, review requirements and store presence handled — including the rejections, which are routine and worth planning for.

06

Maintenance and updates

OS releases, store policy changes and security updates. An app that stops being maintained stops working, and eventually stops being listed.

◦ Why this matters

What makes our apps different.

Three things, and none of them are promises about how talented we are.

We plan before we build. What the app must do, who it is for, and what the first release deliberately leaves out. That document is what stops scope arriving as a surprise halfway through.

We test on real devices. Across sizes and OS versions, not just the simulator, because that is where the problems your users would have found actually surface.

We plan for after launch. Store rules and operating systems change whether or not your app does. Budgeting for that from the start is the difference between an app that lasts and one that quietly stops opening.

◦ Straight answer

When an app is the right call

It fits when
  • People will use it repeatedly — an app earns its place through return visits, not first ones
  • You need something a browser cannot reach: offline use, push notifications, background location, deeper camera access
  • The audience is existing customers or your own staff, rather than strangers who have not found you yet
  • Being on the home screen is itself part of the value
Something else fits better when
  • You want to be found by new customers — that is a website’s job. Nobody discovers a business by browsing an app store
  • A responsive website would do the same work without asking anyone to install anything first
  • There is no plan or budget for year two — an unmaintained app breaks with the next OS release, and eventually gets delisted
◦ Questions

Everything you want to know.

01

What platforms do you develop for?

iOS and Android. Whether that means two native builds or one cross-platform build depends on what the app needs from the device, and we will explain the trade-off rather than default to one.

02

Do you provide UI and UX design?

Yes. Design is part of the build rather than a separate purchase, and it follows each platform’s conventions so the app feels native to use.

03

What is the typical timeline?

It depends on scope and complexity. We will give you a range once we know what the first release has to do — and the fastest way to shorten it is usually to cut features, not corners.

04

Is testing part of the process?

Yes, across real devices and OS versions. No build is bug-free on day one; what matters is finding them before your users do.

05

Can you help with app store submission?

Yes. We handle the submission process and store listing, including working through review rejections, which are a normal part of publishing rather than a sign something went wrong.

06

Do you offer ongoing maintenance?

Yes. Maintenance and support keep the app compatible with new OS releases and store policies. This is the part most app projects underestimate.

Not sure whether you need an app or a better mobile site?

Tell us who would use it and how often. We will tell you honestly which one you need — and roughly what each would cost to keep running.
